Americo L. Martinez Dies at 83

Americo L. Martinez Veteran Americo L. Martinez, also known as "Chupe,” “Felito” or “Don Felito," of Anna’s Hope died on Nov. 20 at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. He was 83 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Sherill Martinez; sons: Roberto "Eddy" Martinez, Ray A. Martinez, Juan Luis Martinez, Davio R. Martinez and Gregory R. Martinez; grandchildren: Dynel, Sundara, Jayden, Taevon, Anthony, Jayla, Ray II, Kiandra and Rayden Martinez, Wasseem Ali Jr. and Tristino Ali; mother-in-law, Hilarena James; father-in-law, Leslie James; daughters-in-law: Traci, Diana, Alicia, Sonja and Takiesha Martinez; sisters-in-law: Denise James, Donna Gonzalez, Lenore James and Lynelle James; sisters: Carmen Canegata and Carmen Lydia Levy Martinez; brothers-in-law: David Canegata Jr., Raymond James Esq. and Leslie James Jr.; and nieces: Carmen Dora Velez, Ana C. Velez Martinez, Camille Velez, Yvette Canegata-Jones, Diane O’Rielly and Teresa Evans.
He is also survived by nephews: Angel Velez, Ricky Velez, Carmelo Velez, John Canegata, Roberto Velez, Felito Velez, Juanito Velez, Luis Velez and Rolando Velez; great nieces: Alexandra Black, Nicole Canegata, Jessica Canegata, Shayna Powell-Johansen, Zoe Powell, Rebecca Evans, Jenna Canegata and Faith Powell; great nephews: David M. Canegata, Andre Canegata, Justin Powell, Joshua Powell, Robert Evans and Jordan Evans; godsons: Robert McIntosh Jr. and Candido Garcia Jr.; special friends: Egbert Thomas Jr., Roy Anduze, Hector Maldonado, Mr. and Mrs. Barry, Candido Garcia, Robert McIntosh Sr., Velgrave Tutein, Julio Brady, Floyd Henderson, Inez James, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel, Dora Williams, Diana Kelly, Edith Maynard, Isaida Nunez, Nancy Gonzalez and Bryson; other families: the Hewitt family, the James family, the Canegata family and the Martinez family; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery, Veterans Section
