School Bus Slides off Road at Lorraine Hill

A school bus on its way to Crawford Day School in Anna’s Hope slid off the road Wednesday with three students, the driver and a special education aide aboard, the V.I. Department of Education reported.

According to the report, one child suffered a broken arm and the aide suffered minor injuries.

Education’s report said the incident occurred just before 8 a.m on Lorraine Hill near Estates Barren Spot and Strawberry.

According to reports from emergency responders, the occupants were transported to Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Two students were treated for minor injuries and released. The third student, with the broken arm, was treated and remained in the hospital for observation and is reportedly in good spirits.

The driver of the school bus left the hospital on her own accord.

Crawford Day School serves children with behavioral issues, under the auspices of the V.I. Department of Education Special Services. The Department of Education is responsible for transporting students to and from the facility.
