An armed, masked man broke into a home Saturday in Estate Stoney Ground, assaulting the residents and demanding money, according to the V.I. Police Department.
The case is being investigated as a first-degree robbery.
The incident took place just before 9 p.m. According to the police report, the victims told police they were off-loading their food van at their residence when an armed, masked man approached the woman, grabbed her by her shirt and pushed her to the ground. When that victim began to yell, the suspect fled into the house and started ransacking the home. The suspect then got into the male victim’s vehicle and drove away. The keys were in the vehicle along with the female victim’s purse, which contained money, according to police.
Officers found the vehicle the same day; however the purse and money were not there.
The suspect was described as a light complexioned Hispanic male wearing a long-sleeved camouflage jacket and long pants.
This case is being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives.
