John Elvin McCleverty Sr. Dies

John Elvin McCleverty Sr., better known as "Chippy," died on Oct. 25.

John Elvin McCleverty Sr. is preceded in death by: Annie Romney McCleverty (mother), James A. McCleverty (father), Carl McCleverty (brother), Lyra Hendricks (sister) and Hubert Fleming (son-in-law).

He is survived by wife, Edna McCleverty, daughters: Joanne Mccleverty-Fleming, Monique McCleverty and Paula Gomes-McCleverty; son, John E. McCleverty Jr.; daughter-in-law, Joyce Moolenaar-McCleverty; son-in-law, Roy Chesterfield Sr., granddaughters: Keisha Chesterfield, Keishell Daniel, Keinya Daniel-White, LaToya Jennings and Rochelle Martin; grandsons: Rasheed McCleverty, Osayande McCleverty, Roshaun Martin and K’vonte Moolenaar; great And grandchildren: Sharde McCleverty, Shamauri Camsel, Roy Chesterfield Jr. III, Romel Chesterfield, Roshaun Chesterfield, Rasheed McCleverty Jr., Rashord White and Kiana White.

He is also survived by nephews: Angel Luis Lebron, Edwaldo E. Lebron Sr. and Dale Hendricks; special cousins: special cousins: Debbie Romney, Eleanor Smith, Bingley Richardson, Paul Smith, Kent Bernier, Mary Malone, Ethlyn DeWindt, Lucille Penn-Fredericks, and the Romney, Industrious, Brathwaite, Penn, Hodge and Smith families from Tortola; special friends: Roy Moorehead, Jennifer Moore, Sen. Shawn Michael Malone, Paul Smith, Herman Russell, Cleo Foster “Willie” Williams, Joseph Laurent, Larry Sibilly, Judge Ive Arlington Swan, Judge Audrey Thomas, Keith Daniel, Glen Smith, Connie Carroll, Leslie Milliner, and Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Sutton; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

A first viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home Chapel. A second viewing will be held at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, at Wesley Methodist Church in Estate Anna’s Rest. Interment will follow at Western Cemetery No. 1.

Funeral arrangements are by Turnbull’s Funeral Home.
