Take Back the Night a No Show on St. John

For the second year in a row, a planned Take Back the Night event on St. John didn’t happen.

St. John was supposed to have an “Empty Place at the Table” to honor the memory of those who died because of domestic violence. It was supposed to start at 5:30 p.m. in Cruz Bay but not one person had shown up by 5:50 p.m. No table was set up, no loud speaker system was in place and there were no speakers milling about waiting their turn at the microphone.

The sponsor, the Family Resource Center, confirmed on Wednesday that the event would take place.

St. John has held Take Back the Night marches in previous years.
