Captain Vivian E. Varlack Dies at 55

Capt. Vivian E. Varlack died Oct. 10. She was 55 years old.
She is survived by her mother, Bernice Fredericks; father, Rodney Varlack Sr.; stepmother, Naomi Varlack; life partner, Capt. Calvin Thomas Sr.; sons: Capt. Kyle Thomas, Calvin Thomas Jr. and Kah-Leed “Spesh” Thomas; grandchildren: K’Shana Thomas, Carlia Fleming, K’Lan Thomas, K’Lah Jacobs, Kitori Thomas, Ky’Lah Thomas, Kahmari Thomas and Kayla Thomas; great granddaughter, Deniyah Harris; adopted son, Shaheed; sisters: Capt. Patricia Varlack, Shirlene Hermon, Capt. Diane Griffith, Faye Fredericks, Denise Joseph, Jeanne Thomas, Captain Gayle Varlack, Carol Jones, Delrise Varlack, Carmen Jones, Angelina Bryan, and Deidra Varlack; brothers: Rodney Varlack Sr., James Varlack, Virgil Jones, Roy Jones, Robert Jones and Alexander Varlack; and adopted brothers: Greg Baron and Alvin Braithwaite.
She is also survived by aunts: Rehenia Latortue, Gertrude Fredericks, Ida Fredericks and Vera Fredericks; godparents: Linda Francis and Vera Fredericks; brothers-in-law: Robert Thomas Sr., Henry Thomas Sr., Raymond Thomas and Paul Thomas; sisters-in-law: Emma Thomas, Corina Thomas, Idelia Abramson, Barbara Thomas, Patricia Thomas, Galene Varlack, Valere Jones and Almida “Goldie” Jones; and nieces and nephews: Chandra, Keshima, Keshawn, Delvin, Janelle, Chantel, Jaysa, Joseph, Jada, Jamae, Barry Jr., Bryan, Brittany, Nikia, Nia, Edward Jr. “Slim,” Nyisha, Sharissa, Jen Jr., Jaime, Larissa, Lawrence III, LaNae, Aariyah, Tafara, Elisa, Elsia, Diara, Marlene, Natasha, James “Blues,” Nisha, James “Chucky,” Jaymes, Raquinn, Jackima, Rashadi, Akimba Sr., Ikeema, Akeema, Kadisha, Che’Keema, Roy, Troy, Mario Jr., Kendall, Wayne, Wilma, Maykisa, Robert III, Lisa, Loren, Dwayne, Rena, Christopher, Sharon, Henry Jr. “Hank,” Ryan, Anwar, Kelvin “Kelly,” Tisha, Tanya, Michael, Brittany, Tiffany, Oliver, Shayla, Linda, Stephanie, Bodecia, Francine, Weston, Sandra, Celeste, Debra, Kandace, Collen and Maureen.

Malcolm Sprauve Jr., Jalanie Smith and Jhukoi Leon; special friends: Natalie Thomas, Anita Griffith, Theresa Brown, Beverly Baron, Jacquelyn Clendinen, Faye O’Connor, Joycelyn Jacobs, Golda Hermon, Vera Payne, Hilda Harley, Eloise Hamphries, Brenda Richardson, Christine Gibson, Jaynelle Hendrickson, Carina Braithwaite, Yvette Powell, Shani, Darcy Thomas, Dwight Thomas, Derrick Thomas and the Nazareth Bay High School Class of 1975; close family and friends: Uncle Lionel Mulraine, Howard Francis, , Leale Trotman, Keba Williams, Sheldon Brooks, Elton Russell, Benny Joshua, George Byrd, Rudolph Brunn, Bernice Gumbs and Naomi Edwards; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A first viewing will be held from 7:30-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at Davis Funeral Home Chapel. A second viewing will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Bethany Moravian Church, St. John, with a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the same location. Burial will be at Bethany Moravian Church Cemetery.
