Crime Stoppers Asks for Help

The cost of crime is paid for by the law abiding citizens of the community through higher prices and higher taxes. Reducing that cost puts money back in our pockets.

If you know something that might help solve one of the following crimes, say something. Law enforcement cannot control crime without your help.

St. Croix: In the past month there have been three armed robberies of restaurants: Subway near Sunshine Mall on Sept. 15, the Golden Rock McDonald’s on Sept. 17, and Pizza Hut in La Reine Shopping Center on Oct. 3. Help police find these robbers by telling us what you may know.

St. John: On Sept. 30 at 10:30 a.m., a woman returned to her home at Estate Zootenvaal and discovered it had been burglarized. Items stolen include a black and red pocketbook that contained $1,680 in cash, plus her passport, social security card, driver’s license and some prepaid ferry tickets.

St. Thomas: On Sept. 12 at 10:15 p.m. at Magens Point Resort, three masked men broke a glass window and entered the lobby area of the resort. The armed robbers pointed black handguns at two women, ordered them not to move, and then robbed the resort of $443 and the women of an iPhone in a black case and a purple bag that included $100 cash, a driver license and a social security card.

Tell us what you know so law enforcement can identify and arrest these criminals. Submit your information on these or any other crimes at www.CrimeStoppersUSVI.org, by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by texting “USVI” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

Your tips are completely anonymous, and the stateside operators speak several languages. If your tip leads to an arrest or the recovery of stolen property, illegal drugs or weapons, you will receive a reward to be paid according to your instructions.

The minimum cash reward for the arrest of an armed robber is $900. For the arrest of a burglar it is $714. In both cases the reward is increased by 10 percent of the retail value of property recovered. Our maximum reward is capped at $2,500.
