A bullet grazed the head of a 10-year-old boy riding in a car driven by his mother at about 11 p.m. Thursday near the ball park in Estate Grove Place, the V.I. Police reported Friday.
The incident, which police are are investigating as a first-degree reckless endangerment, happened when unknown persons fired at a vehicle that had passengers inside, the police said.
Officers were told that while the 31-year-old mother was driving a silver Jeep near the ball park, the vehicle was fired upon by unknown persons. The driver told police her four minor children were in the car at the time and that a bullet grazed her 10-year-old son’s head.
The boy was taken by private vehicle to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment. The driver told police she did not know who fired the shots.
Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives and Forensic technicians processed the scene and collected evidence.
