Police Confiscate St. Thomas Marijuana Grow

Responding to residents’ complaints, members of the V.I. Police Department Special Response Team located and confiscated 183 marijuana plants being cultivated in an outdoor grow in Estate Nadir, the department reported.

According to the release, officers arrived at the empty lot in Nada at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and found the plants. Once the illegal substance was processed and weighed, the marijuana equaled 1,963 grams, or 4.3 pounds.

After seizing the crop, police issued a reminder to the public that the cultivation, possession, sale and use of marijuana is against the law in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the case and asked anyone with information regarding this marijuana cultivation to call detectives at 714-9844 or 714-9805, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers V.I., at 1-800-222-TIPS.
