Classes at Alexander Henderson Elementary Will Resume

Classes at Alexander Henderson Elementary on St. Croix will resume on Wednesday, Sept. 26, according to a press release from St. Croix Superintendent Gary Molloy issued Tuesday. School was dismissed early Tuesday morning after an outlet in the school’s kitchen caused a minor fire.
"Because of the rainfall we experienced last night, we experienced low voltage to the school, which caused a problem with the outlet," William Matthew, the St. Croix District’s director of maintenance, said Tuesday. While there were no flames, the outlet continued to emit smoke, which was taken care of by the school’s staff. A licensed electrician was dispatched to make sure all electric systems were working properly, but classes at Henderson were dismissed early as a safety precaution.
