The gates will be full for Sunday’s featured eighth race of TRAXCO’s nine-race card at the Randall “Doc” James race track.
Gato Paso will be the likely post-time favorite and should be the horse to beat. He has been very impressive since coming to St. Croix.
Aircraft Intercept out of St. Thomas is the speed in the race and will be the one to catch, but a mile might be just out of his reach. Another St. Thomas entry, El Theeb is a classy horse and if he fires on Sunday could well wind up in the Winner’s Circle. Congo is also supposed to be big time but did not show much in his debut. This is now his second start on the big island; maybe he will redeem himself here.
Some race fans have St. Thomas’ Sweet Sight winning the race, but it will be tough for him to beat Gato Paso. He should be in the money, though. Puerto Rican Emblem and Black Jack Bob always try hard and both will be rolling late. If the pace gets too hot up front look for either of these two to close well for a piece of the prize money. Political Reporter rounds out the field but could well be over his head in this one.
