Christopher Anwar, 23, was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted murder, among other charges, in connection to an assault case that occurred earlier this month.
Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives served Anwar with an arrest warrant about 7 a.m. Tuesday, charging him with attempted murder, first-degree assault, third-degree assault and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Bail was set at $150,000 and he was remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing.
According to police, on Sept. 2 a 26-year-old man was approached near Apothecary Hall on King Street in Frederiksted by three men him who started punching him. He told police he lost consciousness and could not remember what else happened.
Police saw that the victim had blood on his face and his eye was swollen. Later medical staff at the Juan F. Luis Hospital said the victim was grazed by a bullet above his left eyebrow.
