The Weights and Measures (W&M) Unit of DLCA will continue to monitor fuel prices throughout the nation in addition to conducting its weekly territorial gas survey. According to a three (3) month average retail price chart by gasbuddy.com, the nationwide price of regular gas has steadily increased since July and has not yet experienced a decrease. Nationwide fuel increases on the wholesale and retail level continue to affect gas prices in the Virgin Islands. The latest rack rate price change reported by Hovensa A effective Sept. 3-9 indicates price increases on regular and premium fuel. Regular fuel will increase by .17cents per gallon and premium by .10 cents per gallon. Diesel fuel remains unchanged.
Retailers throughout the territory are reminded that they are prohibited from increasing their prices at the pumps without providing all required documentation to the Department and receiving approval before taking any action. Any increase without prior written authorization shall be in violation and subject to fines and possible revocation of the business license.
