Pre-College Research Academies Program in Computing and Information Technology Offered

As part of the National Science Foundation Broadening Participation is
Computing (BPC), the University of the Virgin Islands in collaboration with
the Ana G. Mendez University Systems Caribbean Computing Center for
Excellence (BPC Alliances) will offer a Saturday Research Academy program for pre-college students interested in pursuing careers in computing or information technology (grades 10-12). Classes will be held at 8 a.m. beginning on Sept 1 (registration and information) in Lab B204E in the Business Building, UVI.
The program will end on Dec. 15. Each student completing the program will received a $200 award. Students will learn computing principles, be exposed to basic research methods and be able present their research to a large audience work at the Caribbean Research Symposium in Puerto Rico on Dec. 15.
