Police Investigate Apparent Suicide

Criminal Investigation detectives on St. Croix are investigating an apparent suicide in Estate River, Frederiksted, on Tuesday. Police said there appear to be no signs of foul play in the death; however, they are awaiting the conclusion of the medical examiners’ report.

Police were dispatched to the scene about 2 p.m. Tuesday, where they found a 61-year-old woman unresponsive on the floor of a private residence. A friend of the victim, who reported the death to 911, told police the home seemed to be intact and secure when they arrived.

The victim was removed from the home by medical attendants and an autopsy will be scheduled by medical staff at the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center.
