Sewage Repairs Complete at LBJ Station

Sewage problems near the John F. Kennedy Housing Community have been resolved, the V.I. Waste Management Authority said Wednesday in a press release, completing repairs to the LBJ force main and ending the overflow.

After the problems were first reported Monday morning, the LBJ station’s pumps were taken offline to facilitate repairs, but the pumps are back in service and no sewage bypass is reported, according to the press release.

Residents and boaters are still being asked to avoid the beaches in the Condo Row area until they are deemed safe to swim in by the Department of Planning and Natural Resources. Notices posted at the beaches remain in effect until clearance.
