St. John Man Arrested Answering Cell Phone

Maxian L. Ashton, 47, also known as Vincy, was arrested Sunday after police allegedly found him in possession on an iPhone that wasn’t his, the Police Department indicated in a press release issued Tuesday. He was charged with possession of stolen property.

According to the press release, police received a report of a cell phone, valued at about $500, missing from a beach bar in Cruz Bay. After making contact with the owner of the phone, police activated a tracking device built into the phone.

Police and the owner tracked the phone’s location to Ashton, who was at another location in Cruz Bay. The owner called the phone, which allegedly rang and was in Ashton’s possession.

Ashton was placed on a $1,000 bail and remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections.
