Kenneth Matthias, 50, was arrested about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday and charged with trespassing and unlawful entry, Police indicated in a press release issued Thursday. Police said Matthias is allegedly a person of interest in recent burglaries in that area.

Representatives of St. John Ultimate Villas, a vacation villa management agency, told police that Matthias was seen on the property. Police said they believed he was sleeping, showering and using the bathrooms in the villa.

Police said Matthias previously worked as a maintenance worker at the property but was fired about three months ago.

Matthias was placed on a $2,000 bail. Matthias attended his advice of rights hearing and was released on his own recognizance by the courts.

Police on St. John continue to investigate and gather evidence on the burglaries and urge residents to report any thing they know to police.
