Governor’s Chief of Staff Resigns

Chief of Staff Pamela B. Berkowsky has resigned from Government House effective Monday.
According to a statement released Monday afternoon, Gov. John deJongh Jr. has accepted her resignation.
“I thank Pam for her tremendous service to our territory over the past six years," deJongh said, "during which time she has been a devoted and hardworking public servant on behalf of the people of the Virgin Islands."
Berkowsky assumed the chief of staff position on Oct. 1, 2011, following the retirement of Louis Penn Sr.
Prior to that, Berkowsky had been deJongh’s deputy chief of staff since Jan. 1, 2007.
“I wish her nothing but the best in the pursuit of her future endeavors,” deJongh said.
The statement did not indicate if there would be a permanent replacement anytime soon. However, Deputy Chief of Staff Nathan Simmonds will serve as acting chief in the interim.
Simmonds has serviced as deJongh’s deputy chief since October. Prior to that, he led the governor’s financial team.
