Francis: Supreme Court Ruling Allows Territory to Continue Improving Healthcare

Lt. Gov. Gregory R. Francis announced today that he is pleased with the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Francis is the territory’s commissioner of Insurance and chairman of the territory’s Healthcare Reform Implementation Task Force, which was established to carry out the reforms stemming from the passage of the act, according to a press release issued Thursday by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.
“I am pleased that the Supreme Court upheld the major components of the Affordable Care Act that are applicable to the territory,” stated Francis. “Since the passage of the Affordable Care Act, the territory has committed significant resources and initiative to not only improve our healthcare system but to ensure that quality and affordable health care is accessible to every Virgin Islander. The Supreme Court’s ruling allows us to move forward with this important mission of improving our delivery of healthcare services throughout the territory.”
