For $19.17 Virgin Islander Can Win Chance to Meet President Obama

Some lucky Virgin Islander will win a $5,000 special seat at a Marc Anthony concert that will include a photo reception with President Barack Obama for only a $19.17 donation to the Obama-Biden campaign.

The concert will be on June 26 at the Filmore in Miami Beach and the winner will attend a pre-concert reception with the president.

An email being circulated states: “We’ve gotten permission from the campaign to have a ‘USVI’ raffle for a VIP ticket/photo reception with President Obama at the Fillmore in South Beach. The event will include a concert by five-time Grammy award winner Marc Anthony. Normally these tickets would cost $5,000, but we’re having a drawing in which individuals will be entered into a drawing each time they contribute $19.17.”

For the chance to win, you should donate through the USVI online donation link ONLY at http://my.barackobama.com/usvirginislandsovfmain.

The drawing will be held Friday night.

The campaign to re-elect Obama has used this fund-raising technique for months, offering dinners with the president at George Clooney’s house or with Sarah Jessica Parker. This is the first one specific to Virgin Islanders.

When contacted, Marjorie Roberts, a member of the national finance committee, said she thought the $19.17 was a nice touch since the Virgin Islands was purchased by the United States in 1917.

Contributions had to have been made for only eight days between June 13 and June
21 (5 p.m.) to qualify for the drawing.

As is the case with all the special dinners and events, the winner will be vetted before being officially allowed to spend time with the president.
