Safari Taxi Hits Parked Car During Robbery

A safari taxi crashed into a parked car during a robbery on Brookman Road Thursday evening, according to St. Thomas police. The woman driving the taxi was unhurt, but told police the suspects took a large amount of cash from her.

The driver told police she was about to discharge her last passenger but noticed he was not getting off the vehicle. Another man grabbed her around her neck through the drivers’ window, but she managed to break free and avoid a third suspect as she ran across the street.

The safari taxi continued moving and hit a parked car. The suspects ransacked the vehicle and removed more than $1,000 in cash. The victim said she did not know who the suspects were and was unable to describe them.

The case is being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives. Police urge anyone who has any information regarding this robbery to call detectives at 714-9834, 715-5522. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
