Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge Book Distribution Events Set

Governor John P. de Jongh Jr. Summer Reading Challenge book distribution events will begin on Saturday, June 16, on St. Croix. The book distribution events, “book fiestas,” will be held according to the following schedule:
St. Croix: Saturday, June 16. Location: Sunny Isle Shopping Center (in collaboration with the shopping center’s Pre- Father’s Day Event) from 1 – 5 p.m.
St. Thomas: Saturday, June 23. Location: Tutu Park Mall from 2 – 4 p.m.
St. John: Sunday, June 24. Location: Cruz Bay during the Carnival Food Fair from 1 -5 p.m.
The governor invites children in grades K-8 to visit the book distribution events to receive free books and support literacy. "Join the challenge and read at least five books this summer," deJongh said. "The school with the most participants will receive a prize at the closing ceremonies later this year and will have the opportunity to join friends and peers for an enjoyable summer activity."
