Education Resumes UVI Fall Registration for Teachers, Paraprofessionals

Human Resources Director Dayna Clendinen is once again advising territorial public school teachers and paraprofessionals that the V.I. Education Department will pay all tuition costs and associated fees for one three-credit course at the University of the Virgin Islands during the upcoming fall semester. All courses offered to paraprofessionals will be at the undergraduate level, while courses offered to teachers can either be at the graduate or undergraduate level, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the V.I. Department of Education.
The sign-up period will be between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday, June 18through Friday, June 29 at the department’s Human Resources offices in both districts. Teachers must enroll in courses leading to certification or re-certification, while paraprofessionals must enroll in education courses, or courses leading to an education degree.
“Due to the limited number of available courses, interested individuals are asked to act quickly, since selections will be made on a ‘first-come, first-serve’ basis. No phone sign-ups will be allowed,” Clendinen said. “Individuals are further reminded that course textbooks are their responsibility, and reimbursement to the Education Department will be required in the event that they fail a course.”
For more information, please visit the Education Department’s Human Resources offices or call 772-3848, ext. 25, 26, 27 or 32 on St. Croix, or 774-0100, ext. 8052 or 8055 on St. Thomas-St. John.
