Witnesses told police Powell punched VanBeverhoudt and ran off, according to the department.

VanBeverhoudt began chasing Powell until he collapsed in the roadway and was subsequently run over by a passing vehicle.

Autopsy results indicated VanBeverhoudt’s cause of death was a stab wound through the left chest into his heart.

Wednesday police secured an arrest warrant charging Powell with second degree murder; voluntary manslaughter, first degree assault, third degree assault and associated weapons charges.

Friday, police spotted Powell in Hospital Ground and took him into custody without incident. His bail was set at $150,000, which he was unable to post. Powell was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
