St. Thomas police arrested 26-year-old Damall Maduro and charged him with third degree assault under the domestic violence statute Monday, for allegedly beating up his 7-year-old son, according to the V.I. Police Department.
Police were called to Schneider Regional Medical Center when the child was admitted Sunday for bruises on his face, legs and arms, and was being treated for a fractured right hand.
Maduro, identified as the boy’s father, was arrested Monday at roughly 1:15 p.m. and held without bail pending court action, according to the terms of the territory’s domestic violence statutes.
Police on St. Thomas were also dispatched to a fight that occurred on Alton Adams Drive near the former Taco Bell location just before 3:30 on Wednesday. They spoke to a 17-year-old victim who had a deep cut over his left eye.
The minor told police that a male he doesn’t know hit him with a rock. The minor was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The case will be followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
