The V.I. Labor Department has scheduled double sessions March 29 on St. Croix and April 3 on St. Thomas for the temporary and permanent government employees who were recently dismissed.
The department’s Rapid Response teams have scheduled sessions to allow Labor staff to provide one-on-one services and alleviate a trip to the department. The Rapid Response team consists of individuals from various government agencies who collaborate to provide necessary services to residents during this difficult time.
Rapid Response is an outplacement program designed to respond to major layoffs and plant closings by coordinating services and providing immediate aid to the affected workers.
Rapid Response provides the employees with information and services including filing for unemployment insurance, retraining, developing new skills, emergency assistance, housing assistance, resume preparation, child support, healthcare, COBRA and veteran assistance.
“The department is taking steps internally to ensure that employees have access to the services they need during this difficult time of transition,” said Labor Commissioner Albert Bryan Jr. in a news release.
The scheduled sessions are as follows:
St. Croix, March 29 at Gertrude’s Restaurant
9 a.m. to noon – Morning Session
1 to 4 p.m. – Afternoon Session
St. Thomas, April 3 at Palms Court Harborview Hotel
9 a.m. to noon – Morning Session
1 to 4 p.m. – Afternoon Session
