Shots Fired in Frederiksted

Two people witnessed a man fire shots at them in Frederiksted on Saturday night, according to a press release issued by the V.I. Police Department. The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Queen Street.

According to the preliminary police report, officers spoke to two people who said they saw an unknown man wearing a black jacket with a hood, who was allegedly holding what appeared to be a machine gun. The witnesses told officers the man began firing at them and they started running.

Police said officers arrived on the scene within minutes of the report; however, they could not locate the suspect. One victim was bruised on his forehead and shoulder from falling while running, but there were no other injuries reported.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau is following up on this case.
