Inmates Arrested for Arson, Assault

Two Bureau of Corrections inmates were arrested last Friday, for crimes committed while in jail.

On Dec. 23, inmate Jeverne Bryan Phillip, also known as “Ice,” Was caught on prison surveillance lighting cushions on fire. He was charged with first degree arson and placed on $75,000 bail. Phillip also spit on a Corrections officer earlier that day, and was additionally charged with aggravated assault and battery. Bail for that charge was set at $500. Phillip was returned to the prison on St. Thomas.

On the same day in an unrelated incident, inmate Edwin Encarnacion, was arrested after he struck a Corrections officer with a metal gate. His bail was set at $25,000 and he was also returned to prison.
