Charles Harwood Medical Complex on the western edge of Christiansted will be giving free flu vaccinations, glucose and cholesterol screenings during a daylong health fair Friday, according to the Health Department.
The flu season began in October and lasts through February, according to the department. The clinic decided to offer the free flu shots to ensure residents, especially the elderly who may be accustomed to participating in annual outreach events held by private and civic organizations, get the vaccine at no cost, Acting Health Commissioner Marc Jerome said in a Health Department statement.
“We encourage all at-risk residents, especially those with chronic medical conditions, to get the flu shot and to take advantage of the health screening services,” Jerome said.
