Man Fatally Shot Outside His Home

Detectives from the V.I. Police Department’s Major Crimes Bureau are investigating the fatal shooting of a 38-year-old man that occurred just minutes before 11 p.m. Friday.

It was the 25th homicide in St. Croix in 2011, the 37th in the territory.

The victim was shot by unknown assailants in the residential area of Estate Two Brothers in Frederiksted, police said. He was taken to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have not released the name of the victim pending notification of next of kin.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired. When they arrived on the scene they saw the victim on the ground a few feet from his home. Emergency medical technicians responding to the scene reported the victim showed no signs of life.
