VIPD Confiscates Three More Guns

Police on St. Thomas took three more firearms off the street this week, including two that were found on Tuesday by a homeowner who was cleaning his yard.

The homeowner said he found the guns at his Estate Anna’s Retreat home around 9 p.m. Tuesday and immediately called police, who picked them up.

Officers confiscated the third gun on Wednesday from 22-year-old Trevon Richards, who was arrested minutes before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm.

According to police, officers within the Zone C Command and Intelligence Unit acted on an anonymous tip from a concerned citizen about a possible crime near a local Red Hook bar. When officers arrived at the scene, they questioned Richards, who works as a security guard. During questioning, officers discovered that Richards had a gun but no license to carry it.

Richards’ bail was set at $10,000 at the time of his arrest, and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
