The Government Employees Retirement System this week announced that its offices on both St. Thomas and St. Croix would be closed for business starting at 8 a.m. Thursday.
The closure runs through Dec. 5 to allow staff to conduct maintenance on the new V3 Pension and Benefits System, according to a press release issued Monday by GERS Administrator Austin Nibbs.
Calls placed to Nibbs Tuesday and Wednesday to learn more about the six-week-plus closure were not returned.
In the release Nibbs apologized for any inconveniences to GERS members.
