The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas, Names Bernd Kuhlen General Manager

Hotel executive Bernd Kuhlen has been named general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas. With industry experience spanning nearly three decades, Kuhlen brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role at the award winning, luxury oceanfront resort.
Most recently, Kuhlen served as general manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, where he oversaw operations for the 261-room destination spa and golf hotel. He earlier spent five years at The Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Rose Hall, Jamaica, first as hotel manager and then as general manager. Prior to 2005, Kuhlen served as director of Food and Beverage for The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans, where he played an instrumental role in hotel emergency and recovery efforts during and following Hurricane Katrina.
Having spent most of his career as part of The Ritz-Carlton family, Kuhlen’s extensive experience also includes the opening of six Ritz-Carlton hotels and resorts in the United States, Germany, Egypt, South Korea, Indonesia and Japan, preceded by extensive hospitality education and training in his home country of Germany. He is fluent in English, German and Spanish.
“I am delighted to return to the Caribbean and honored to join the outstanding team at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas,” said Kuhlen. “This multi-faceted destination has so much to offer, and I will continue to enhance the very special resort experience that The Ritz-Carlton brings to the U.S. Virgin Islands.”
