St. Croix detectives on Thursday arrested 28-year-old VIPD officer Rodolfo Jacobs II and charged him in the sexual abuse and rape of a minor.
Jacobs, who was arrested shortly after 9 a.m., has been charged with first-degree aggravated rape/domestic violence, first-degree unlawful sexual contact/domestic violence and child abuse/domestic violence.
A VIPD officer since May 2007, Jacobs has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending the conclusion of the case.
According to police, Jacobs was accused of committing more than one sexual act against a male minor from January 2010 to November 2010. This investigation was conducted in conjunction with the Department of Human Services, which reported the crime to police in November 2010.
Jacobs is a St. Croix native residing in Estate Calquohoun. This case is still under investigation.
“This is not representative of the V.I. Police Department," Assistant Police Commissioner Raymond L. Hyndman said. "A police department should be an icon of trust for the community, and whoever tarnishes that trust will be eradicated from the department."
Jacobs’ bail was set at $150,000, and he was remanded to the custody of the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
