Two Killed in Separate Shootings Early Monday

Two separate shooting incidents on St. Thomas took a pair of lives early Monday morning, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The first shooting occurred at about 4:30 a.m. in Estate Thomas near the Value Food Deli. The victim was found unresponsive, lying face down in the roadway with gunshots to his body.

He was later identified as 57-year-old Calvin Dowe of Estate Thomas.

The second shooting occurred minutes before 6 a.m. in an area known as Soto Town in Estate Contant. Police have not released the name of the victim pending contact with the next of kin.

The deceased is described as a Hispanic male, possibly in his mid-40s, according to detectives. He was also found with multiple gunshots to his body and was unresponsive when police arrived.

They were the seventh and eighth homicides on St. Thomas since the first of the year, the first since April 14. They were the 23rd and 24th in the territory since the beginning of the year.

Assistant Commissioner Raymond L. Hyndman reminded the community that there is a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of any murder suspect.
