A young Crucian husband and wife were found shot to death at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday in shallow water on the North Shore.
They were the 20th and 21st homicides in the territory since the first of the year, the 14th and 15th on St. Croix.
Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are investigating the deaths of Rasenjoni Williams, 22, and his 18-year-old wife, Amaria Remie Williams. The couple appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to a release from the V.I. Police Department.
According to St. Croix Police Chief Christopher Howell, at about 12:30 p.m. a call came into 911 emergency communications of shots fired in the area of the Harbor View Apartments near the North Shore road. Police spoke to several residents and canvassed the neighboring area.
The bodies were discovered about one hour later as police canvassed the beach area less than a half-mile west of the apartment complex. A firearm was found in the vicinity of the bodies as well as shell casings, which were collected and will be tested by forensic technicians.
