VIPD Reminds Public of Fee Increases

Fees for VIPD services provided to the public increase Wednesday, Police Commissioner Novelle E. Francis Jr. said Tuesday in a statement released by the department.

The fee increase was announced May 13. The services that will increase include but are not limited to, police and traffic records and reports, fingerprints, firearms, various permits and security licenses.

The complete list of increased fees include:

  • Police records, effective Wednesday increases $3 to $9
  • Traffic records, increases $2 to $7
  • Police/traffic reports, increases $3 to $10
  • Fingerprints, increases $5 to $40
  • Record expungement, new fee of $100
  • Firearms applications, increases $2 to $7
  • Firearms registration (3 years) increases $15 to $65
  • Firearms renewal (3 years) increases $20 to $50
  • Firearms duplicate increases $5 to $15
  • Firearms fines increases $5 to $20
  • Firearms reciprocal act increases $5 to $10
  • Security guard license increases $150 to $350, plus $25 cost
  • Private investigate license increases $100 to $200 plus $25 cost
  • Locksmith license increases $60 to $200 plus $25 cost
  • Business license increases $50 $150
  • Press pass increases $50 to $150 plus $25 cost
  • Carnival permits (per day) increases $25 to $75
  • Key maker license increases from $100 to $200
  • Special permit increases $50 to $100
  • Activated alarm (per call monthly after first three) increases $50 to $100
  • Traffic obstructions (per day) increases $50 to $100
  • Escort increases $25 to $50 plus cost
  • Emergency parking increases $25 to $50
  • Vendors permit increases $50 to $100
  • Liquor permit increases $50 to $100
  • Miscellaneous is a new fee of $25
  • Statistical data is a new fee $50
  • Statistical data (students) is a new fee of $10
