Sports, Parks and Recreation Plans Upcoming Community Programs

In its continued commitment to enhance the quality of life of the community by providing diverse sports programs, recreational activities and leisure opportunities, Commissioner St. Claire N. Williams, on behalf of the Virgin Islands Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation, informs the St. Thomas-St. John-Water Island community of the upcoming programs.
Second Annual Summer Junior Flag Football League
All interested players can sign up at the second pre-season clinic that will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 21, at the CAHS field. The league is schedule to start on June 18 and will run until Aug. 8,
2011. There will be three age groups: 7-9, 10-12 and 13-15. For more information, contact Vince Roberts, assistant director of sports and recreation, at 779-8841 or 774-0255 or Janelle Sarauw, sports

Pee Wee 3 on 3 Basketball
The Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation would like to invite the St. Thomas/St. John/Water Island community to come out each Saturday afternoon, to support the department’s First Annual Derek Heyliger and Venise Frazer Pee Wee 3 on 3 Basketball League. The league was scheduled to run from May 14; however, due to inclement weather, the league will start this Saturday, May 21, and will run until Aug. 13.
