Annual Post Mother’s Day Frenchtown Fishing Tournament Set

The annual post-Mother’s Day Fishing Tournament sponsored by The Committee for the Betterment of Carenage will take place on Sunday, May 22, in Frenchtown. Female anglers will compete in the bottom-fishing tournament for a top prize of $500 for the largest qualifying fish. “Only female anglers can compete in the tournament, and each angler must bag her own fish. Bottom fishing requires the vessel to be anchored, and chumming is allowed,” according to Gail Danet Joseph, chairwoman of the annual fishing tournament committee.
“This year we have expanded the fishing hours from 5:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; however, all boats must be back in the Frenchtown bayside by 1 p.m. sharp. Any boat not back in shore by 1 p.m. faces the disqualification of its anglers,” she said. During the weigh-in, food and drinks will be on sale.
Prizes will be presented on Sunday, June 19, during the Father’s Day weekend celebration in Frenchtown.
