Clear Blue Sky and VIUCEDD Hold Public Forum on Mental Illness

Clear Blue Sky and the Virgin Islands University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VIUCEDD) invite the public to a forum on mental illness in the V.I. This forum will bring awareness to and educate the public on mental health issues and available services that help people with a mental illness to get well, stay well and progress beyond the confines of their mental illness. There will be a panel of service providers along the continuum of a mental illness, and Clear Blue Sky is especially looking forward to sharing with the community the Clear Blue Sky Clubhouse Model in detail. The guest speaker will be Evan Gerrard of Genesis Club and the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD).
The forum will take place from 8 a.m. to noon, on Thursday, May 12, at the ACC Building at UVI. Panelists will include Leighmin J. Lu, psychiatrist, and leaders at many of the mental health facilities and organizations in the territory. Breakfast will be served from 8-8:30 a.m.
The Mental Health Forum is listed on the www.viucedd.org Web site and interested persons can go to the site and register.
