Private School Parents Invited to IDEA Meeting

All private school administrators and parents of children with disabilities enrolled in Virgin Islands private schools are invited to an evening of conversation the district’s child fund coordinators and the V.I. Territorial ADA coordinator. The Individuals with Disabilities Eduction Act (IDEA) provides an opportunity for parentally placed private school children with an identified or suspected disability to participate equitably in IDEA services.
Learn about the services available to children in private schools, who will provide the services, how parents, teachers and private school officials will be informed of the process, the dispute resolution, etc.
A light dinner and refreshments will be served. The meeting will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, at Government House, Christiansted, on St. Croix.
RSVP is required. Text message IDEA STT or IDEA STX or call 626-3330 or e-mail Stephanie.barnes@go.vi.gov. Include your name and number of persons attending in your RSVP. The meetings are sponsored by the Department of Education – Division of Special Education’s District Office and the Governor’s Office of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
