Police Make Arrest on Robbery Involving Illegal Gun Sale

Detectives from St. Croix’s Criminal Investigation Bureau Wednesday arrested 20-year-old Ti-Shawn Samuel, also known as Dowdy, and charged him with first-degree robbery in connection with an incident that occurred April 6 in Estate Mon Bijou.

Police said the robbery, which was not immediately reported, involved two victims. One of the victims was 19-year-old Musa-Raji Sharmouj, who has been missing since later that same day.

According to the preliminary police report Sharmouj and another man approached Samuel near a residence in Estate Mon Bijou and attempted to sell Samuel a firearm. Samuel, instead, robbed them of the gun, according to police. The two men left the area and Sharmouj was last seen at the Consumer’s Gas Station in Estate Grove Place, according to witnesses.

Samuel was arrested at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday and placed on a $100,000 bail.

This case, as well as the case of the missing man, is still open and continues to be investigated by detectives. Police are urging anyone who knows anything about this case to call detectives at 712-6067, 712-6037 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS.
