Special Education Hosts Public Hearings on Annual State Application

Carrie S. Johns, state director of special education for the territory, invites the general public to open hearings on the V.I. special education annual state application under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), as amended in 2004, for federal fiscal year 2011. The hearings are scheduled as follows: on St. Thomas: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, at the St. Thomas State Office Conference Room and on St. Croix: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, at the St. Croix State Office Conference Room, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the V.I. Department of Education.
Johns asks that persons wishing to make an oral presentation complete the following:
· Prepare a short written statement of comments in advance of hearing
· Submit a copy of the prepared statement of comments in advance of hearing
· Indicate your name, address and, if any, organization you are representing
· Describe the concern with respect to the services under the application; and
· State the recommendation action to improve the present practice
Persons unable to attend, but wishing to submit a special comment, may send written comments to:
