CFVI Announces Availability of 2011 Mini-Grants

The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands has announced the launch of its 2011 Mini-Grant Program, which was established by CFVI to offer support to school based groups, community organizations, non-profit groups and individuals who propose innovative programs that support the mission of CFVI which is to enhance educational, cultural, social, physical and the environmental well-being of children, youth and families in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“For the fifteenth consecutive year, CFVI is able to offer these grants which enable hardworking volunteers to provide services to Virgin Islands children and families in after-school and summer programs,” said Dee Baecher-Brown, CFVI’s president. The mini grants range from $250 to $1,000and are awardedon a competitive basis to applicants from St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John. “We look forward to awarding these grants again this year as each of the projects that receive funding will have a direct impact on the lives of children and families throughout the territory. This is in keeping with the mission of CFVI.”
Completed applications for 2011 mini-grants must be postmarked or faxed by Thursday, March 10. Successful applicants will be required to submit a brief written report, receipts for expenditures and, if possible, contribute visual documentation on the use of the grant at the end of the funding period.
Interested parties may go to the Web site, cfvi.net under the grants section to download the form. Application forms may also be obtained by sending a request to mcharles@cfvi.net. Hard copies of the application may be picked up at the following locations:
  • St. Thomas: CFVI Office, Royal Dane Mall, Suite 2C, upstairs; The Family Connection Center, Vitraco Mall Bldg. 1 Bay 4A
  • St. Croix: Chamber of Commerce, 3009 Orange Grove, Suite 12
  • St. John: Connections, Cruz Bay
CFVI was established in 1990. The foundation has more than 90 funds created by individuals and businesses to support educational, environmental, social and cultural initiatives in the Virgin Islands.
