José Enrique Carrillo Gonzalez Dies

José Enrique Carrillo Gonzalez was born on St. Thomas, Virgin Islands on Dec. 30, 1942, and passed away on Jan. 22. His proud parents were José Ismael Carrillo and Leonor Gonzalez Carrillo. He was the third of seven children.

He attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School and the University of Puerto Rico where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in mathematics and chemistry. Upon completion of his studies he was drafted into the U.S. Armed Forces and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
Upon his return to the Virgin Islands, he worked with Dr. Federico Dottin, his brother-in -law at Caribbean Laboratories. His interest in educating others took him to All Saints Cathedral School in 1967 where he was a science and math teacher. He later became the assistant principal until 2009 when he retired.
In 2009, he was diagnosed with a life threatening disease that took him from us. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his siblings: Iris C. de Dottin, José Manuel Carrillo, José Miguel Carrillo, José Pilar Carrillo, José Raul Carrillo and Georgina Carrillo-Febres; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives too numerous to mention.
A viewing will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, at the John Thomas Funeral Home, and a funeral service will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 28 at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral.
