Historical Trust Offers Step Streets Walking Tour

St. Thomas Historical Trust members and the general public are invited to a walking tour of the step streets of Government Hill. Included will be views of the Prindsen Gade steps by the Jarvis School, and a walk up the Dronningens Gade steps along the top past the Government House steps and down the “99” Steps to Kongens Gade. It will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 16.
Charlotte Amalie’s step streets are unique in the English speaking Caribbean and many are in sad disrepair. This is the second walking tour in a St. Thomas Historical Trust initiative to raise awareness of these architectural gems while the society works to beautify and preserve them.
Walkers will meet at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Veterans Memorial Park outside the Historical Trust offices at 2:30. Wear comfy shoes, bring your parasol and lots water.
The tour is free, but space is limited. Please call to reserve a place. Donations to the St. Thomas Historical Trust are always welcome.
