PSC to Monitor Ferry Operations Daily

The Public Services Commission has stepped up its operations on St. John with the assignment of Lucinda Jurgen to a full-time post on the island. PSC Director Keithley Joseph said her main job will be to keep tabs on ferry operations.

“If there’s a problem go directly to her,” he said.

Jurgen starts work Monday. Previously, the PSC had someone, usually Jurgen, at the St. John office only Tuesdays and Thursdays.

According to Joseph, the change was not in response to any particular situation, but rather to address ongoing problems such as late departing ferries. He said he wants to deal with problems as they occur.

Jurgen will be on the Cruz Bay ferry dock near the time when the ferries depart. If for some reason she can’t get to the dock at the appointed time, Joseph urged any one with a problem to stop by the PSC office at the Battery.

She’ll have a name tag and wear a gold-colored uniform blouse, Joseph said.

Call the PSC’s St. John office at 776-1391.
