Pistarckle Offers Two Summer Theater Camps

Pistarckle Theater will offer a summer musical theater production camp from Jone 14 to July 18, culminating with the production of “The Wiz,” for children, ages nine through 18. The musical is based on a retelling of L. Frank Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” In this version, Dorothy is a shy, Harlem kindergarten teacher, who, while searching for her lost dog Toto in a blizzard, is whisked away to a wonderland. Her mission? Follow the yellow brick road to find the Wiz!

Auditions for roles will be held on Saturday, June 12 from noon to 6 p.m. at Pistarckle Theater.
The second summer camp, Leadership through Theater, is planned for July 26-Aug. 20 and is for students 11-18. Pistarckle Theater’s summer camps are part of the STARS Education Program.
Some scholarships are available to support tuition costs. To register for either camp or to make an appointment to audition for “The Wiz,” call 775-7877 and ask for Education Director Larry Bryant.
The Education Program at Pistarckle Theater is supported by the Law Enforcement Protection Commission, The Lana Vento Charitable Trust, First Bank VI, Community Foundation VI, and the VI Council on the Arts.
