Antilles Students Host Third 'Fun Day for Kids'

Students at Antilles School invite the community to a day of fun activities, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 24, at Mark C. Marin Center on the Antilles campus. “Fun Day for Kids” will offer activities appealing to children from ages two through high school students.

Three years ago, then-sophomore Noor Suid and freshman Lexy Ford decided they wanted to do something to help the homeless on St. Thomas. They organized the first fun day raising $3,000 for Bethlehem House and getting many students involved in helping with the student-driven event. Now, even more students are helping, and the goal is to raise more money than ever before. The students will split the proceeds between Bethlehem House and Clear Blue Sky/Karen’s House, organizations that help those with mental illnesses.
While the cake walk, face painting, monkey toss and cookie decorating will excite the younger attendees; having a chance to throw a pie in the face of a teacher or fellow student will appeal to older attendees. Everyone – children and adults – will like the duck pond and water slide, and enjoy the challenge of the treasure hunt. Some lucky person will win the 50/50 raffle; tickets are just $1. Lots of food will be available, from hamburgers and hot dogs to snacks, snow-cones and popcorn, Coke and lemonade.
Admission is free; participants pay only for the activities they choose to do. Come have fun and help support two worthy causes.
